Arsenal Football Club is one of the biggest football clubs of London that plays in the Premier League. The club has been playing in the Emirates Stadium since 2006. The last title Arsenal won, was in 2003/2004, which was their 13th league title ever. They were the first and only club to have won the title without losing a single game. This tally of 13 titles is the third highest in English football, after Liverpool (18) and Manchester United (20). Since their last title, Arsenal has been a runner-up, which can be seen as a dangerous outsider for the title.
In 2018, Arsenal said goodbye to Arsène Wenger, who had been their head coach for 22 years; the longest-serving manager who has won the most trophies. With new coach Unai Emery, Arsenals aim was to once again retrieve the championship title. Last season, the Gunners ended 5th in the Premier League. They also made it to the finals of the Europa League, which they lost with 4-1 against Chelsea.
Next season, Arsenal will do anything to win the league-title again. Their attacking threat has been steadily increasing, due to players such as Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Mesut Özil and Alexandre Lacazette. Moreover, they have reinforced themselves with players such as David Luiz, Nicolas Pépé, William Saliba, Bernd Leno, Sokratis Papastathopoulos, Lucas Torreira, Mattéo Guendouzi and Celtic-star Kieran Tierney.
Arsenals biggest rival is – without a doubt – Tottenham Hotspur. The North London Derby was created when Arsenal moved to a new stadium, which was only a few miles from Tottenham Hotspurs’ stadium. Throughout the following years the rivalry grew and didn’t fade when Arsenal moved to the Emirates Stadium in 2006. Visiting the North London Derby can definitely be something to add on your bucket list.
