Xavi's team won the championship last season, while Real Madrid had to settle for the Spanish Cup. Both top clubs have now strengthened in midfield: Bellingham will play in the Madrid jersey this season and Gündoğan has now arrived at Barcelona. Atlético Madrid is hoping Dutchman Memphis Depay will fortify their team.

Start and end of La Liga season
The 2023/24 Primera División season begins on August 13. Real Madrid, Barcelona, Atlético Madrid and others will be in motion then. Madrid takes on Bilbao, Barça gets to visit Getafe and Atlético hosts Granada. The last matchday before the winter break is December 20. The league continues on the third of January, 2024. May 26 is matchday 38 of the 38.
